Join our world-class, innovative team today.Position Specific DescriptionThis position is in the Environmental Permitting Section of the Corporate Environmental Services Department supporting new renewable project development for NextEra Energy Resources and other NextEra Energy affiliates. The selected candidate will lead a team of environmental professionals supporting the environmental permitting of projects throughout the Mountain West (OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, UT). This is a remote position which requires working from home in the western US. Travel for this position will vary, but could be up to 2 to 3 times per month.Applicant must have relevant experience and ability to lead, with limited direction, a team of environmental professionals supporting energy development projects including but not limited to wind, solar, battery storage and transmission. The applicant will be responsible for environmental due diligence, siting and the federal, state and local environmental approvals/permits required for development projects. Responsibilities will also include environmental support on potential mergers and acquisitions, financings and divestitures of assets.Applicant must possess strong leadership and communication skills and be schedule and process driven. Applicant must be capable of interpreting pertinent federal, state, and local environmental policies and regulations, effectively interface with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders, and assist in resolving complex environmental matters. Applicant must help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies.Position Specific Responsibilities:--- Manage a team of professionals responsible for environmental permitting--- Environmental Siting, Licensing, Permitting and Due Diligence--- Project Planning, Budget and Schedule Management--- Strategic management and oversight of environmental field studies and consultants--- Ability to assess and communicate environmental risk--- Negotiations with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies--- Development/management of vendor contracts / purchase orders / invoices--- Manage personnel activities such as hiring, performance goal setting and evaluations, and mentoring--- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders--- Ability to travel and work extended hoursIdeal Candidate Will Have:--- Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations with an emphasis on National Environmental Policy Act and associated regulations--- Advanced ability with analysis, problem solving, and professional skills--- Advanced commercial skills, communications (written & verbal), integrity and compliance, leadership, and process/project managementJob OverviewJob Duties & Responsibilities--- Obtains all required federal, state and local environmental licenses, permits and approvals for development projects--- Supports multiple projects with multifaceted environmental and regulatory issues and assists in comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews for potential acquisitions--- Maintains current knowledge of pertinent national and state level environmental policies and regulations--- Interfaces with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders, and be able to assist in resolving complex environmental matters--- Helps ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies--- Translates regulations and permit into actionable construction compliance tasks--- Provides specialized environmental expertise and environmental technical support--- Performs other job-related duties as assignedRequired QualificationsPreferred Qualifications--- Project / team leadership--- Effective Written Communications--- Effective Verbal Communications--- Master's - Other Sciences--- Environmental Laws and Regulations--- Environmental Negotiations--- Environmental Science and Engineering--- Environmental Issues/Compliance--- Performance ConsultingThe estimated base pay for this position is $123,200.00 to $184,800.00 per year.
