University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) at Sacramento State is seeking a
Social Media and Communications Coordinator for the Education
Insights Center (EdInsights). EdInsights is a self-supporting unit
of California State University, Sacramento. Established in 2001 as
the Institute for Higher Education Leadership & Policy and renamed
in 2015, EdInsights is committed to research, evaluation, and
capacity building related to practice and policy with the goal of
continually improving student success (defined as student learning,
engagement, progression, and completion). The work of the Center
focuses on creating equitable opportunities and outcomes for
California's diverse student population as students navigate into
and through our systems of higher education in California, with a
focus on California community colleges and four-year public
universities. The Center houses dedicated staff with diverse
expertise across a spectrum of applied policy research and
analysis, evaluation, capacity building, writing, and
communications. The efforts are proudly partnered with experts,
leaders, and practitioners from education, philanthropic
organizations, and government. Through a collaborative approach,
the work has resulted in: ongoing improvement and evaluation of
community college professional development, improved implementation
of community college pathways, research that pivotally informed the
ongoing development of California's statewide data system, improved
quality of education programs and policies, enhanced
decision-making focused on equitable student success, and increased
cross-system connections that lead to more inclusive and
collaborative policymaking and implementation. The Center's efforts
seek to understand and address the institutional and systemic
barriers students experience in their educational trajectories,
with a focus on students of color, students experiencing poverty,
and students who are first in their families to attend college.

RATE OF PAY: $24.10 - $36.15 per hour

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is a full-time, non-exempt
(eligible for overtime pay), benefited position, with a defined
contribution retirement plan through TIAA. (The position is not
covered under the California Public Employees' Retirement System.)

the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and
either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time,
terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without
cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations or
related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or work
experience.
Experience managing social media accounts on one or more
platforms.
Ability to effectively communicate on social media, including
drafting a social media plan and postings, and proofreading
content.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal
skills, and skills to effectively function as part of a team.
Demonstrated experience using WordPress or another website
management system.
Demonstrated experience using word processing, spreadsheets, and
email software such as the programs in the Microsoft Office
Suite.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Strong work ethic and ability to take initiative when needed.
Ability to maintain productivity independently and work
autonomously.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting.
Must continue to meet the established standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1-2 years of professional experience in public relations, brand
management, organizational communications, storytelling, strategic
messaging, and/or audience engagement.
Experience with the following software: Adobe Creative Suite
(Photoshop and InDesign), Canva, WordPress, or SquareSpace.
Demonstrated experience building social media plans, managing a
content calendar, and proof-reading content.
Experience drafting press releases and other communications
collateral.
Familiarity with disproportionate educational impacts for
traditionally underserved communities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
With or without a reasonable accommodation: Sit for extended

coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal
communication; use of office equipment including computers,
telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, and fax

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a remote environment; continuous contact with
staff, students, campus community, the public, and other
agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Social Media and Communications Coordinator will provide direct
assistance to the Communications Manager. Under supervision, the
Coordinator will support the management of communications functions
in the following areas: content, webpage and social media
management, graphic design on Canva, and administrative duties. The
Coordinator carries out the following tasks: managing media,
compiling research, updating the organization's three websites, and
managing contact lists ensuring accurate record-keeping, and
scheduling meetings. This position reports directly to the
Communications Manager and may receive work direction from the
Associate and Executive Directors. Collaborates with other
communication staff.
The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Coordinates social media and website management across the
organization, including statewide initiative channels of the CSU
Student Success Network and the California Education Policy
Fellowship Program. Supports updating and maintaining the
organization's three websites. Under supervision schedules, drafts,
and uploads content to various platforms such as Twitter/X,
Facebook, LinkedIn, and the organization's three websites,
including during live events.
Monitors social media analytics and activity for three brands
across various social media platforms. Under supervision, provides
audience engagement, replies to direct messages, and refreshes
digital media.
Supports identifying quotes for publication within audio and video
recordings of events and interviews, noting timestamp for
Communications Manager review. Organizes and saves final media
files.
Organizes and develops communications material and content for
review by the Communications Manager, following relevant style
guides when drafting post and posting content once the
Communications Manager approves it.
Coordinates updates to the center's style guides. Supports
editorial and post-production processes for written
publications.
Selects, reads, and summarizes higher education news
articles/reports for staff communications updates. Updates and
organizes contact lists in Constant Contact.
Attends events and coordinates the setup of swag and other event
materials, as needed.
Supports outreach to communications vendors for webpage
troubleshooting issues, as needed.
Schedules meetings. Takes meeting notes and uses them to draft new
communications collateral or update existing collateral.
Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the
center and its mission.
Note: This position vacancy is with University Enterprises Inc., an
auxiliary organization of California State University, Sacramento.
This is not a University position; the incumbent will be an
employee of University Enterprises. University Enterprises operates
commercial enterprises on the California State University,
Sacramento campus; it is responsible for grant and contract
management and fiscal services for University research and
sponsored programs and provides fiscal services to University
related agencies and activities. University Enterprises is a
non-profit corporation governed by a board of directors in

administration.
